Payhuddle supports a leading international payment network in building its cloud-based EMV Level 3 certification tool for acquiring partners

Our client, a leading international payment network, had been sponsoring end-to-end EMV level 3 tools for its acquiring partners.  This endeavor incurred significant logistics and sponsorship costs across various regions, including shipping of physical test cards and tool procurement, highlighting challenges in management and resource allocation.

Our client sought to simplify the management of sponsorship of tools and shipment of physical card bundles for their acquiring partners with a centralized multi-user EMVCo L3TG-compliant self-test platform, which will be used by across 150 acquirers, merchants, network partners and processors who can test and certify their terminal for the network's test framework. 

What did we do?

We leveraged our EMVCo-qualified multi-network L3 test platform, Tecto. The tool consists of TSE, TT, and an integrated host responder. The platform was built to support automatic log attachment and real-time validations of pass criteria along with end-to-end process flow till Letter of Qualification (LoQ) generation.

To reduce physical test card shipments, we leveraged our EMVCo-qualified Tecto card simulator to develop an Android app that simulates contactless cards and personalizes contact cards using mobile NFC.

The features that were included in the cloud-based Level 3 testing and certification platform:

• Self-testing
• Multi-user, Parallel testing
• Centralized monitoring of the testing and certification of each entity
• Over-the-cloud updates
• Android app in Google Play Store
• Robust access control mechanism

What challenges did we address during this project?

We overcome these challenges as a part of this project:

1. EMV Level 3 testing and certification management challenges:

• Manually tracking and streamlining testing and certification workflow for each acquiring partner is time-consuming.
• Testing efficiency and scalability challenges
• Administrative overheads: Coordinating with various stakeholders was a complex task
• Rolling out new card profiles and test case updates
• Managing the entire process centrally, leveraging the knowledge base.

2. Using physical test cards bundle in EMV Level 3 testing:

• Physical cards are challenging to maintain, update, and replace as it is expensive to ship to different regions across the globe.
• Logistic issues: Avoids operational issues arising from faulty card in the bundle
• Increases the carbon footprint significantly

Benefits for the customer

This self-sufficient platform and cloud cards have eliminated all costs associated with sponsoring and distributing EMV L3 tools to this payment network. It provides complete centralized control for improved overall management of end-to-end EMV Level 3 certification without any extra cost.

It will expedite certification for this network, increasing acceptance across the world and, at the same time, reducing the carbon footprint.
